National Individual Allied Membership is designed for those individuals who do not qualify as AIA or Associate AIA members, however are employed outside the architectural practice and are involved in positions allied to the field of architecture.

The Octagon
National Allied members of the AIA also become "Friends Society" members
of the Octagon. Purchased by the American Architectural Foundation, the octagon
is the oldest museum in the United States that is devoted to architecture and
design. As a "Friends Society" member, you support the stewardship
of the building, the exhibition program, the collections, and public programming.
Knowledge Communities
Other wise known as the primary interest areas, National Allied members may
join any one of the many Knowledge Communities. KC's provide access to in-depth
information, services, knowledge, and career needs for your particular areas
of architectural practice. Online eNewletters feature new briefs, competition
and event updates, and insights on emerging trends in the design profession.
Educational Programs
Fulfill mandatory continuing education requirements and attend AIA's conventions
and workshops--without leaving your office! AIA eclassroom offers coursed for
CES credits that can be taken at your convenience. AIA members receive a discounted
price. Not sure how many credits you have accumulated? Members can check their
CES transcripts at any time.
AIA Contract Documents
Members receive a discount of approximately 30% when purchasing AIA Contract
Documents software. AIA Contract Documents are recognized as the industry standard.
Publications and Resources
Membership includes a subscription to Architectural Record, a McGraw_Hill CONSTRUCTION
publication, the magazine of the AIA. Members also receive the electronic publication
AIArchitect, the weekly newsletter of the AIA which includes the institutes
upcoming events.
